Donna Christensen Endorsement

Donna Christensen for Governor of the US Virgin Islands

Higher Heights for America proudly endorses Donna Christensen for Governor of the US Virgin Islands.  A victory by Christensen in next Saturday, August 2nd’s Primary will place her on the course to become the first Black woman governor in United States history.

This win will not be the first of firsts for Christensen who has shattered glass ceilings throughout her career as the first woman Delegate to Congress from the US Virgin Islands, the first woman to represent an offshore territory and the first woman physician to serve in the US House or Representatives.

Higher Heights joins with the Women’s Campaign Fund and Emily’s List in endorsing this historic candidacy.

A former emergency room physician, Christensen has used her personal experience to continuously advocate for women and families during her 9 terms in the US House of Representatives as a Delegate representing the Virgin Islands.

She continuously has raised her voice on a myriad of progressive issues through her service on the Small Business, Homeland Security and Energy and Commerce Committees as well as her work as a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Progressive Caucus and the bi-partisan Caucus on Women’s Issues.

“We are excited by the opportunity for Donna to bring unbought and unbossed leadership to the office of Governor of the Virgin Islands.  By changing the make-up of a decision making table, we take one more step in the right direction for a truly representative democracy,” said Kimberly Peeler-Allen, Co-Founder of Higher Heights.

Higher Heights is a national organization that will invest in a long-term strategy to expand and support Black women’s leadership pipeline at all levels and strengthen their civic participation beyond just Election Day.
