Higher Heights Co-founder, Kimberly Peeler- Allen Joins Attorney General-Elect Letitia James Transition Committee's Executive Staff as Co-Executive Director

NEW YORK (Dec.3, 2018) -- This week, Attorney General-Elect Letitia James announced Higher Heights co-founder, Kimberly Peeler-Allen as the Co-Executive Director of her Transition Committee.

Peeler- Allen will serve along with Larry Schimmel, General Counsel for Investments and Operations, New York City Public Advocate. The two will oversee the day-to-day operations and efforts of the transition committee.

Peeler- Allen has been working at the intersection of race, gender, and politics for almost 20 years. In her role as Co-founder of Higher Heights, along with Glynda Carr, they have built Higher Heights from an idea on the back of a placemat into a network of over 70,000 members, donors and activists across the country that have helped elect ten Black women to Congress, one Black woman to the U.S. Senate, and grow the number of Black women in statewide executive office and leading our nation’s largest cities.

Prior to founding Higher Heights, Kimberly was the principal of Peeler-Allen Consulting, LLC, the only African American full-time fundraising consulting firm in New York State, from 2003 to 2014. Her New York City-based consulting firm  helped develop capital for clients, organizations, and issues affecting people of color that have historically been kept outside of the mainstream.

The opportunity to lead the transition team for Attorney General- Elect James will allow Peeler-Allen to continue her work of supporting and championing Black women to step into their power as voters, activists and elected leaders.

“My work in Attorney General-Elect James transition team reinforces the mission of Higher Heights. We entered 2018 understanding that now more than ever, Black women have a pivotal leadership role to play in American politics, and Attorney General-Elect James demonstrates that when supported and encouraged, Black woman can indeed run, win and lead, and be successful in elected office,” said Peeler-Allen. "She has long fought for justice for all New Yorkers and as our next Attorney General, I know that she will continue to prioritize equal rights for residents in every corner of our state. I could not be more proud to help lead her transition team and to help her carry out her vision for the people of New York.”
