What Past Interns Have Said

"The Higher Heights summer internship has been transformative for me. It has exposed me to the power of other Black Women in leadership which in turn has inspired me about my own ability to create change.”

"Working with Higher Heights for America has definitely been the highlight of my year so far. I have been able to gain so much knowledge and skills in political research, policy work, program drafting, electoral race monitoring, endorsement processing and the general operations of a political non-profit organization. I have also been able to attend events outside of the office which was so rewarding since such opportunities do not always come by. Apart from all the skills I have garnered, I definitely believe I have been adopted into the Higher Heights family. We are not just an organization with a goal to empower black women and push for progressive policies, we are one big family standing together with a passion to fight collectively for change. With my experience so far, I am even more excited to go back to Canada to apply and explore the knowledge I have gained; as well as start my non-profit in Nigeria where I am originally from to make a greater change in the lives of people. Thank you so much Higher Heights For America for the fire you have ignited in me to advocate for the change I believe in. This experience will never be forgotten!”

“This internship allowed me to support politicians and women I believe in, and it reminded me that as long as organizations like Higher Heights exist there will be capable people fighting to advance progressive agendas and increase representation. I learned more about nonprofit management, campaign management, website maintenance, and the world of progressive politics. I am so grateful for this experience.”

"Working at higher heights has been an amazing opportunity. I have learned so much about fiscal policies of a non profit and learned how to regulate internal controls. I can’t wait to be able to apply these skills to my future endeavors.”
